Urban Plan
Urban plan was our first project of our second semester of senior year. The purpose of this project was to create an urban plan for a city to be redeveloped, but while making our plan we had to think about our requirements and guidelines that were given to us by the urban plan handbook. This project lasted approximately 3 weeks and during these 3 weeks we had to work as a team to make the best plan for the city of Elmwood. It was a challenging project because of all the deadlines, pressure, and requirements we had to fulfill. Even though our plan did not win I am still content with our work because we truly put in our all and worked really hard fort his project.
Urban plan was by far the most challenging project during my experience at New Tech. This project truly made me experience how important collaboration and communication is with you, peers, and teachers too. This is the first project where I truly was stressed throughout it. All the deadlines and pressure that was given to us throughout it was an experience.
Before with projects if someone wasn’t pulling in their weight I could easily pick up on their slack if necessary or just warn them. During this project however there wasn’t any time to slack off or get distracted. Each individual had to know their role thoroughly because we counted on them for their accurate information in the project.
The pressure on us as a team and individual was different from previous projects as well. We received pressure not only from our teachers but from our peers and professional members as well. We were being pulled in various directions because of each member’s role and how our plan looked like.
Collaboration was an essence in this project. With any changes that someone did on the plan or on their notes affected the whole team. We had to make sure that our numbers and reasoning made sense while not going over the limit of our requirements. Collaboration was an important asset because if proper communication was not made our plan would have been jeopardized.
In conclusion, this project was different from previous ones. From collaborating with one another and the stress from the project it was a true experience. I learned a lot through this project and even though it was challenging and pressuring I enjoyed the time that was spent on this project.
