Reusable Usable Art
For my Chemgebra class we had to create a unique art piece that only uses reusable materials. My team and I made the following:
Wood you like us to hold?
Our reusable usable art is constructed of recycled materials that would have taken up unnecessary space and landfill waste if they were not created into light holders and plant holders. By making the decision to create art instead of more waste we came up with beautiful one-of-a-kind objects using only used materials. Our art was made up of used washed tuna cans, old clothespins, a candle, and a plant. Tuna cans are made up of metal and the clothespins have metal around them. Metal does not decompose so it just sits in landfills without a purpose. It takes up space, which is what we have to avoid right now. Wood, on the other hand, does decompose but it is a long and unnecessary process, which can be avoided by reusing these materials. We had to be creative and artistic when making our art and in the end it came out really beautiful. We were inspired by the warmth that light offers us. We wanted to create something that anyone would like to have in their home, which was difficult because everyone has different tastes when it comes to art. In the end, we are proud of what we created because, it’s stylish and anyone can use our art anywhere.

Spoon you a light?
Our reusable usable art is constructed of recycled materials that would have taken up unnecessary landfill space if it wasn't created into a beautiful piece of art. By making the decision to create a one-of-a-kind lamp instead of more waste, we came up with a unique light holder using only used materials. Our art was made up of used washed plastic spoons and a gallon juice container. Both of the materials that we used are plastics, which can take up to 450 years to decompose properly. Since it takes a lot of time to decompose, the only purpose they have after we use these materials is to take up unnecessary landfill space. To avoid this problem it is wise to reuse these materials like we did. We created a new type of lamp which is really cool because no one believed it would look good and at the end it came out better than we expected. We had to be creative and artistic with our art piece and we’re really proud of what we created. Anyone can have this lamp in there home and hopefully someone does in the future.

Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes that this project falls under is mostly critical thinking and work ethic. We had to think creatively for this project to make our creations. We had to use our time wisely as well. The learning outcomes that I chose that this project relates to more is critical thinking and work ethic.
